Where There’s Smoke, There are Corvettes

The 31st Corvette Expo is one of the region’s largest swap meets with parts for Corvettes and other cars, including Camaros, Chevelles, Mopars and Fords. This year’s event, presented by Volunteer Chevrolet of Sevierville, is set for March 28 and 29.

SEIVERVILLE, Tenn. — The smoke associated with Corvette Expo won’t necessarily be coming from the tires of an example of Chevrolet’s fiberglass beauties, but the location of the event among the Smoky Mountains in Sevierville, Tenn.

The 31st Corvette Expo is one of the region’s largest swap meets with parts for Corvettes and other cars, including Camaros, Chevelles, Mopars and Fords. This year’s event, presented by Volunteer Chevrolet of Sevierville, is set for March 28 and 29.

Indoor and outdoor vendors, many with the event since 1977, will sell new and used parts, as well as Corvette and other automotive apparel. For participants who drive their Corvette to the event, Corvette Expo will offer free parking in the “Corvette Only” parking area at the event center. This area is open to clubs and individuals and is located at the show site.

Among the activities held during the event is the Corvettes Cruise the Smokies. This cruise will leave the events center at 6 p.m. March 28 to cruise the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Participants will wind through less than 50 miles of roads and allow drivers and passengers about an hour worth of driving time in the cockpit of their Corvette. The route will be posted on the Corvette Expo Web site at www.corvetteexpo.com upon confirmation. Most of the Corvettes running in the cruise are C-5 and C-6 models, and to encourage earlier Corvettes to participate, Hillbilly Vette will present an award to the oldest Corvette completing the cruise.

An auction held in conjunction with Corvette Expo will be held March 29 at 11 a.m. The auction focuses on vehicles that are 25 years old and older.
