While the Friday and Saturday lineups at Barrett-Jackson were loaded with feature and celebrity cars, the final day of the auction, Sunday, January 22nd, will offer many cars with almost equal "star power." The SPEED Channel cameras will still be rolling on Sunday, as the auction podium becomes a showcase for rolling stock as diverse as the "Playbunny Coach" (a custom car that resembles a cross between a station wagon and a top-fuel dragster) to a final-year Oldsmobile woodie station wagon.

In addition, the day will have its steady diet of performance and muscle cars, including several Hemi-powered Mopars, big-block Corvettes, Pro Street Willys and Ford coupes that put out 400-plus horsepower, and a couple of ex-Indianapolis open-wheel race cars.

Falling into the celebrity car category is the "Playbunny Coach" (Lot #1535). The custom vehicle, originally created in the 1970s, recently underwent a total restoration. It's powered by a 396-cid V-8 and an automatic transmission.
Another Sunday wagon is the beautiful merger of wood and steel on a 1949 Oldsmobile woodie. Popular among the West Coast surfing crowd in the 1960s, woodies today are among the most sought-after investment-type collector cars. This particular woodie (Lot #1559) is also desireable, as Oldsmobile produced fewer than 3,000 wagons in 1949, and only a fraction of that number remain today.

Moving from wood to rubber, burning rubber that is, the Sunday consignment roster includes several Hemi-powered Mopars. Among this group of pavement-shredding muscle cars is a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 hardtop (Lot #1540) that is unrestored and sports fewer than 31,000 actual miles. Another Hemi car is a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner hardtop (Lot #1571) that features a dazzling bright red finish to complement its power.

The time-honored tradition of resting on Sunday is not true concerning this year's Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. Over 1,000 collector vehicles will be sold leading up to Sunday's grand finale, and the exciting lineup of cars offered on that last day will keep the bidders active right up to the final drop of the gavel.
