Hilton Head Concours Kicks Off Oct. 30

The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival will run from Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 at Honey Horn on Hilton Hea ead Island in South Carolina.

The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival, one of the nation’s signature automotive events, will return to Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, S.C., from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

This year, the Hilton Head Island Concours will feature a popular classic car auction, historic automobile race exhibitions, vintage motorcycle displays and a Club Car Jamboree. New exhibits for the seventh annual event include a special celebration of Brass Era Cars, which date before 1916 and were constructed almost entirely from brass and sheet metal. During the Concours d’Elegance “Best of Show” competition on November 2, the brass classes will showcase at least one model from each year between 1899 and 1915. New to the show this year will be a display in the Quest for Speed & Style exhibit of pre-WWII, heavy-duty trucks.

Other marquee celebrations featured throughout the weekend include the 60th anniversary of Porsche, which will include a celebratory display of vintage vehicles which traces the evolution of the Porsche from its early days to its contemporary expression. Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance will also honor the anniversaries of Edsel (50th), Morgan (100th) and General Motors (100th) with special classes for each.

Thursday and Friday activities will include a vintage track event that offers everything from exhibition laps to hot lap rides at racing speeds with certified drivers to test drives in the latest sports car makes and models. Friday’s activities will also include an invitation-only driving tour and a public preview of The Hilton Head Sports & Classic Car Auction. Saturday will feature Opening Ceremonies and the Car Club Jamboree, along with the Hilton Head Sports & Classic Car Auction from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The “Quest for Speed & Style” will be held on Saturday. It will be an interactive display of race cars and speed-oriented vehicles from vintage motorcycles to a display of antique service trucks, plus new car test drives. at the Coastal Discovery Museum.
Sunday will be official Concours d’Elegance competition day with more than 150 vintage cars competing for the “Best-of-Show” title.
