Mustangs among highlights at Peach Classic

Peach Auction Sales’ May 2-3 “Peach Classic” saw more than 100 cars traverse the auction block, plus a selection of petroliana and memorabilia.

Peach Auction Sales, a relative newcomer to the business, is located at 660 Peavy Road in Byron, Ga. The 60-acre complex is visible to motorists traveling north and south on Interstate 75.

The consignments had something for most tastes. The most excitement was created by a crimson red 1970 Torino Twister Special, a special edition optioned by a consortium of Kansas Ford dealers. Bidding was spirited, but failed to meet the seller’s $45,000 reserve. Mustangs of all stripes sold on the money, and many new owners left the auction secure in the knowledge of having “bought well.”

Another interesting offering was a cherry red, very streetable 1941 Willys coupe with Chevy power, T-Bird seats and a later model Pontiac steering wheel. The owner let it go for $31,635, including commission.

The next scheduled sale will be its “Diamonds in the Rough” Project Collector Car auction to be held on July 12.
