Packard Museum presents 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'

WARREN, Ohio - The National Packard Museum, the Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club and the Flying Aeros Association proudly present “Planes, Trains & Automobiles.”

This exciting exhibit opened Oct. 8 and runs through Dec. 29. “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” features four working O-gauge tracks set against modular backgrounds depicting the golden age of transportation along with numerous radio control flying aircraft of various sizes and styles displayed along side the elegant Packard automobiles.

The Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club members operate their trains for visitors on Saturday and Sunday. Each member has created a specific module of their own design, many with working and movable parts. These unique and intricately designed sets represent scenic America during the height of rail travel. During the week, the train exhibit is static except for scheduled tours. Come see the trains on the tracks, hear the whistles and watch as they pass through the countryside just as travelers did decades ago.

The Flying Aero’s Association is a radio control flying model club with more than 75 members who fly nitro and gas airplanes, electric sailplanes and nitro and electric helicopters and jets. Their exhibit features radio controlled flying machines that can typically be seen flying at the Ernie Hall Memorial field on Everett Hull Road across from Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The flying machines are suspended throughout the museum, offering a unique view of these intricately designed models.

Members of the Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club and the Flying Aeros Association both include modelers from Columbiana, Mahoning, Summit and Trumbull Counties. They have teamed up with the National Packard Museum to illustrate the various modes of transportation of the 20th century and to promote the radio control airplane and electric train hobbies.

Regardless of your preferred mode of transportation there is sure to be an exciting discovery awaiting you within this exhibit. Gather the whole family or bring the grandchildren or your friends and come to the National Packard Museum. The stage is set for everyone to enjoy a ride back in time with “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”, a show that is sure to bring smiles to every face, and create memories for a lifetime.

The National Packard Museum is open Tues.–Sat. noon-5 p.m. and Sun. 1-5 pm. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors (65 and older) and $5 for children (7–12) under 7 free.
