With the mayors of New London and New Brighton, Minn., seeing him off, Wade Smith of San Antonio, Texas, leaves the starting gate in 2010. Smith will make a return trip to Minnesota in August with his 1905 two-cylinder Columbia.
Would you like to join in a celebration of a time when our country and cars were young? You are invited to the 25th anniversary Minnesota's New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011.

Spectators will see 80+ veteran cars from 1908 and earlier and one- and two-cylinder cars through 1915. They will be touring more 120 miles, recreating the prestigious London to Brighton Commemorative Run held annually in England.

Cars and drivers will come from across the United States and Canada. They will begin arriving in the little town of New London as early as Aug. 9 to participate in 4 days of pre-tours before the Grand Tour on Aug. 13.

The Grand Tour starts at 7 a.m. with the oldest and slowest cars departing first from the Peace Lutheran Church in New London. They will make stops in Grove City, Litchfield, Kingston, Buffalo and Crystal along their prepared route. Cars will begin arriving at the Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton no sooner than 3 p.m. and will continue to come under the finish line banner until around 6:30 p.m.

Don’t miss an opportunity to see these brass-era cars making their run through beautiful Minnesota in August at the New London-New Brighton’s “Silver Anniversary Run.” For more information, contact Judy Goepel: 651-636-7777 or judygoepel@gmail.com. Visit www.antiquecarrun.org.
