“The Spirit of Competition” theme of museum exhibit

If you live or are visiting the Philadelphia area this summer, the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum offers visitors a look at one of the greatest collections of racing sports cars in the world. Assembled by renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Frederick Simeone over a span of 50 years, the museum contains over 60 of the rarest and most significant racing sports cars ever built. It was opened to the public in June 2008.

The museum is different from most other automotive collections in that the cars are used to tell a story – that competition and racing improves the breed. Like Philadelphia’s famed Barnes Foundation collection of paintings, the Simeone Foundation exhibition is a personal collection, driven by a singular vision and specific ideas about how the collection should be arranged and exhibited. The central theme of the collection is “the spirit of competition.”
