Bruce Meyers at Funfest for Air-Cooled VW

13th Annual Funfest for Air-Cooled VW is June 4-5

EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Get ready for a fun-filled weekend as Mid America Motorworks hosts the 13th Annual Funfest for Air-Cooled VW at its corporate campus in Effingham on June 4-5, 2011.

This two-day event celebrates the passion for Air-Cooled Volkswagen and this year they will have a special theme commemorating the 1960s. The whirlwind weekend of events and activities includes a Friday evening Fun Run Road Tour and Downtown Party, Technical Seminars, Exhaust and Burnout Wars, Saturday evening entertainment and much more!

Mid America Motorworks is excited to welcome Bruce Meyers (pictured in hat at left with Mike Yager), creator of the Meyers Manx, as a special guest. Meyers revolutionized the world of off-road racing by designing a lightweight dune buggy using fiberglass and a VW frame. From there the Meyers Manx was born and has become the most copied vehicle in history.

Mid America Motorworks also announced they will make over a 1969 Manx with the help of Dune Buggy Archives during Funfest. The makeover will include a variety of projects, bringing the Manx back to life with the original creator on hand to appraise the finished product.

This will be Meyers' second time attending Funfest. In addition to leading an expert seminar, Meyers will also be available to sign autographs and visit with VW enthusiasts. This is a great opportunity to meet a dune buggy pioneer in the hobby.
